Concordia 50 Timeline
The Challenge:
Marking Concordia University's 50th anniversary, the project needed to translate over 700 archival entries — spanning nearly two centuries, from the university's nineteenth-century roots through the 1974 merger to today — into a single resource that felt navigable rather than overwhelming, without flattening the individual eras and storylines into a generic chronology.
The Solution:
A flexible visual system organized around six distinct historical eras, each with its own narrative identity, letting users move chronologically or cut across time by theme. The design balances density with clarity — built to hold 275 entries, archival documents, and two search modes while still inviting exploration rather than rote reading.
